Why You Need the Best Primary Care Team/ What is an Internal Medicine Provider?

When it comes to your health and well-being, you need the best primary care team to look after you.

Building a long-term relationship with your PCP can translate to major health benefits over your lifetime, such as lower overall health costs, a decrease in hospital and ER visits, and better management of chronic diseases.

What Does a Primary Care Team Do?

Primary care encompasses all areas of general medical care.

Many primary care physicians come from family medicine or internal medicine.

They specialize in diagnosing and treating a range of conditions and also offer preventative medicine.

Below are just a few reasons why having a primary care provider is a great option for you.

What Should I Discuss With My Primary Care Physician?

Be open and honest with your physician regarding what’s going on with your health. Don’t hold back if something is bothering you.

  • Are you experiencing painful or uncomfortable symptoms that interfere with your daily life?

  • Is a medication you’re taking making you feel sick?

  • Do you need help with making healthy decisions or lifestyle choices?

  • Are you having problems sleeping or with your marriage or children?

  • Are you experiencing stress, depression, or sadness?

All of these factors can impact your health.

Personalized Care

When you see the same doctor or team over the years you have the benefit of receiving care from someone who knows you very well.

This results in healthcare that is tailored to your individual needs.

Health Care Screenings

A primary care doctor screens regularly for many things including high blood pressure, diabetes, and more, not to mention they always make sure you are up to date on your immunizations.

What is an Internal Medicine Provider?

Internal medicine providers are specialists in their field who provide primary care services to help their patients.

Although many internal medicine doctors do act as primary care physicians they are not family practitioners and rather focus on adult patients.

Many patients opt to see an internal medicine doctor for issues such as heart disease, hypertension, obesity, and more.
